What is Buffer?

Buffer is an active social media marketing tool that helps you keep the news flowing. Buffer is used by brands and content creators to share news, tips and more.

Buffer is an open-source solution that allows you to publish text, images, videos and links on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr with a click of a button. Buffer was founded in 2010 by Buffer's co-founders Ben Silbermann and Joel Gascoigne as a way for their company to bypass their own internal communications system.

They wanted to have a way for everyone at Buffer to express themselves in the form of blog posts or tweets without having to worry about managing communications internally. Buffersify had its beginnings in 2009 when Ben Silbermann used his personal blog as a platform to post thoughts on Buffer itself, while Joel Gascoigne was inspired by his experience taking Care2's Vacation Guide series off the internet and putting it on the Buffer blog.

What platforms does Buffer run on?
